    Can’t move files

    I have a windows 95 computer and cant move any files anywhere, the copy and cut commands work but not the paste, i cant even move the icons on the desktop, what is wrong?

      If you received an error window stating that your file name is incorrect then you probably are having problems with the folder/file name length. There is a limit of 255 charactors for the path and file name combination.

      For the desktop, if you have auto-arange on you should be able to move them, but upon refresh they will reauto-arange.

      Files – Win 95 does not like to exceed 256 files in a single directory, and will slow down dramatically on file 257 (have seen 5+minutes to list all files). May also want to check properties of the folder, could be set to read only thus you can not write to it.

      you can try to use the hot-key “CTRL+V”
