CANT PRINT APOSTRAPHIE MARKS

I cant print any apostrophys in my document
anyone have any idea why this would happen.
it is a mac 0S 8.6
office 2001
word document
tryed the fonts, changing the typing, even put a
few lines of apostrophys and they didnt come
out. the pagewas blank in that section.
