Can't print via IE

By pshedberg ·
I have been using my printer for 2+ years then all of a sudden I cannot print. When I press print I always get this error message Internet Script Error
An error has occur in the script on this page
Line: 1174
Char: 1
Error: Unspecified Error
Code: 0
URL:res//c: windows\systems32\shdoclc.dll/preview.dlg

I have tried re-installing, changing printers, registry cleaner.....but no use. Can someone tell me how am I to resolve this issue? I have had this issue for almost 9 months...still cannot solve.

What kind of printer...

by azul In reply to Can't print via IE

What kind of printer?
What application?
Is this a web application?
Does Event View provide any inforamtion?
What OS?
Is the print job sent over the network?
Do you get the same error connecting directly to the pc?
Are your pinters connected to a print server?
You have the same issue with multiple printers, Do these printers have the same issues on other workstations?
The first thing is to isolate the issue to hardware or software. It is most likely software but could be hardware based on this information.

My fist thought is that this is an application error. I would undo any recent Widnows updates , do a system restore if the OS is XP.

Reinstalling does not work. If it is not an app issue then I would delete all traces of the printer and the driver and then try to install again. If that does not work and it connects via CAT 5 then reset the network card in the printer.

If none of that works or helps shed light on the issue then I would start looking at hardware.

This is Internet Explorer v6. I am running XP. This is the only program which will not print. I have tried other networked printers and a directly connected printer.
Thanks for your help.
