Can't Re-Install Win 98

By spm9928 ·
I am attempting to do a recovery for my WIN 98. THe PC starts up, goes thru post then ask for a product key. I have the MS certificate with a product key on it, however it only has enough characters for 4 of the 5 required fields which won't allow access to the program. How I get around this and install another recovery cd which I know works without having to re-partition the drive and losing all my other programs?? PLEASE HELP

It appears that you have an OEM disk. Rules established at Tech Republic will not allow anyone to reveal a break in, however one way to find what the product key is using the registry editor. The location is localmachine/software/microsoft/currentversion. The location of your key is marked as product ID.
