Can’t Save an Office file from XP Home to Win98

Can?t save an Excel, or any Office Document, file as ‘save as’ from a XP home system onto a system with Windows 98; I get the error message: the folder may be located in an unavailable volume or protected with a password and it?s not password protected and it is set as archive. How can I get the XP system to be able to re-name the file as save as? I can save as from one of the other systems which also have Win 98 in it to the other Win 98 but not from the XP home to the Win98.
