Can’t save to a server drive…

I have a server/client architecture server by WinNT with a combo of 95/98 clients. We have a server that has folders for each user to store his or her files. The problem I am having is each time a user tries to save a file from within or Word or Excel (either 97 or XP) to their personal folder, it causes the program to stop responding. We have another server that is setup for the same purposes for a different department of users and it works fine. I have played with sharing and permissions and matched the settings to that other server but it still won’t work. Each user uses a login script for their NT domain which includes mapping the drive that contains the users folder to their computer. HELP!
