I have 3 PC’s networked with a linksys hub/router connected to a Verizon DSL modem. All PC’s run 98. Two of them use AOL mail no problem. One uses Verizon mail account for business. I can surf, no problem, I can receive email, no problem.
When Itry to send email it seldom goes out. Sometimes I have to disconnect from the router and plug my PC directly into the DSL modem and launch Verizon’s WinPoets program to connect. Then the mail shoots right out.
I’ve tried pinging the server and using the IP address, as linksys suggested, instead of smtp.verizon.net but I get a relay error.
The error I get most often is…
An unknown error has occurred. Subject ‘XXXXXXX’, Account: ‘mail.verizon.net’, Server: ‘smtp.verizon.net’, Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: ‘421 mta013.verizon.net Lost connection to [151.202.92.102]’, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 421, Error Number: 0x800CCC67.
Verizon, of course, says “we don’t support networks” and their Tech support is useless. Linksys has not answered my direct queries.
Any ideas?
