Can’t send Internet e-mail using OWA

by bradq . Updated 25 years, 2 months ago

I have Outlook Web Access set up on our network. We have a static IP address from our ISP. We don’t host our own website but can still access the default webpage on our IIS server by typing in the static IP address in an IE browser window. Everything is working fine with the OWA except for one thing. When trying to send internet e-mail with it, the messages just get returned saying:

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Subject: test
Sent: 11/13/2000 1:34 PM

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

‘ken@home.com’ on 11/13/2000 1:34 PM
The recipient name is not recognized
MSEXCH:MSExchangeMTA:HASNT3:HASNT1

Do you know how to fix this problem? Our ISP is still hosting our e-mail so our Exchange Server doesn’t have any DNS entries or MX records and all that stuff. Is there a way around doing that so we can just use the Exchange Server for OWA?

Brad

p.s. We have MS Proxy Server 2.0 on the server connecting to the internet if that makes any difference.
