Can't set default printer

In NT4, connected to networked printer. Prints OK but will not allow me to set it as the default. (There are no other printers on this PC)

If there are no other printers, it is automatically the default, because it is the only printer.

You only need a default printer if you have more than one...

since you have just one printer, its obviously your Default printer, however there could be driver / DLL faults, so Delete the printer & add it again. Test it in "properties" for a test printout & its path "\\<System>\<name_of_printer>".

there are no other printers; yet I installed it twice & get same message that "Cannot set as default printer"
When you try to print, the is no printer automatically selected; you have to "down-arrow" and select it
