I am running XP Pro and I can't set sharing permissions for any folders I can only select whether or not I want to share them and not who I want to be able to access them. The screen isn't even showing up allowing individual permissions. What am I doing wrong.

sounds like you have simple file sharing enabled...Control Panel/Folder Options/View/Use Simple File Sharing way down at bottom did you login to this computer. is it in domain or workgroup. did you login locally or to domain. did you remove the everyone group in domain users.
Both of the above answers are correct, If you are not logged on as administrator or with administrator rights , do so now, then open my computer on the tool bar click "tools" then "folder options" Then click the "view" tab, then the last item listed at the bottom of the list un - check the box next to " use simple file sharing ( recomended )" Then close that window off, then right click on the item you wish to set the permissions to and right click , you should then see "sharing and Security " listed just click that , and you should then see options about sharing that file or drive .
