Hi everyone
Due to staff changes at my workplace I suddenly find myself in charge of a vast array of network critical CISCO switches (reading and training are a constant part of my life now!)
One question I have for some more knowledgeable CISCOpeople out there. What factors do you need to take into account when looking at the capacity that a Cat 5000 switch can serve? From what I have determined, the actually number of ports that the Cat5000 can service is 528 (depending upon configuration of course), but what about required bandwidth to service x number of ports. If you were to increase the number of ports serviced by your Cat5000 from 200 to 300 (for example) and you have 155 Mb/s ATM fibre running into your switch, will that result in a significant performance hit for those PCs?
Any assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated
