Career Advice

Hi all,
Im just going to get to the point. I was a mechanic in the Army from 01 to 04, bank teller 04 to 05, Realtor 05 to 06. I have finally found my calling and it is in the IT field. So I studied hard got my CCNA and have now been working as tech support in an ISP for about 6 months, im getting some experience on routers here. My goal is to become a Network Engineer, working mainly only on routers. I need some advice on how I can approach this goal. What kind of jobs should I be looking for? Tech support was all I could break into, im thinking tech support II will be the only thing I can do next because of my lack of experience. Is this a wrong type of mind set, can I just jump straight into network engineering? How many years before I can do and begin doing what I want to do full time just networking. Im 24 yrs old and a year away from an associates. All comments are welcomed positive and negative.
Thanks in advanced,
Derek
