Career advice (Certs, degrees, EXP, ect..)
I have A+ | Net+ | Sec+ | CCNA, 18 Credits towards an A.A.S Information Technology, and 9 months exp of HelpDesk/Computer Technician 1. I feel burned out at my current job because of crazy work demands and an unreasonable management that NEVER listens to the IT Dept. I am willing to stay here as long as I need (not to exceed 2 years) but I am confused as to what to do next or what to study. I would like to be a Jr.Network Admin, but my Cisco knowledge is starting to slip. I bought a CCNA Security book, a CCNP ROUTE book, and WINDOWS 7 Config book, but I don't know which one to study, also I understand that VMWare is Big because I see a consistent demand for it. I have a Hyper-V server and a million Technet keys but every time I start, I stop halfway. Basically I don't know what to study or what to improve my resume with. My job is in support of two EMR systems and general helpdesk stuff (Endusers, printers, PC's,TC's, VOIP phones and applications.) To sum things up; what I do does not have anything to do with what I learn, and they won't let me apply what I know to my job so I am basically just putting in my time at the helpdesk trying to work my way up from the bottom, Any Advice? Thanks everyone.
