Career Contacts/Career Peer Support

by xpertdragon . Updated 24 years, 6 months ago

I was wondering as I was browsing through many of the different career postings in this area, if there was a good support system for peer ro peer career contacts. I am thinking along the lines of a mailing list or forum or other service within TechRepublic that will help you bulld contacts, references, hookups, or whatever you want to call those people lending a helping hand to your career search. If no such thing exists at this time, maybe we should all opt for having something similar on TechRepublic forums.

I am not saying by any means that the Career discussion area is not useful, but there maybe other opportunities that could be created through IT peer contacts.

For instance, I am currently located in Southern New Mexico, and have looked to relocating to the Washington state area, and realize that without a good job lead or secured position, relocating NOW, would be like shooting myself in the foot. However, if anyone wanted to re-locate to my area in the IT field, I believe I have a lot of contacts right now in the IT field that need positions filled, and are equal to my current responsibilties and salary, so for the most part I have no need to move just right down the road.

Let me know what everyone thinks of this decent, but YES, redundant and somewhat foolish idea. Thanks.
