Cataloged Workgroups - Active Directory?

I am new to active directory,
But I have 2 offices in different geographical locations, Oregon and California.
There is 1 domain with a PDC and SDC\file server in Oregon and just an SDC\file server in the California.
The problem I?m running into is that when users in Oregon open the ?MY Network Places? they see a populated list of workgroups from the California office. There is nothing destructive about this but it will become a larger issue when we move active directory to other offices. Also it serves no purpose for any users in these offices to view computer on other offices in the domain listing. Is there a way to turn this off too?

This sounds more like the Computer Browser than anything AD related. You should get rid of this behavior by setting the Computer Browser service on the pc's to disabled.

actually once you move to an Windows Server 2003 AD based network, the my network places problem goes away. Users will not see workgroups as none will exist, will not see other domain computers nor will they see shares in My Network Places [even printers].

You first have to publish these resources in Active Directory for them to be available to users.
