Causing script errors

What is happening that would cause a new window within IE6.0 to run very slow almost never open. Also it comes up with an error saying there is an error with the scripts on this page that is causing IE to run very slowly. Resetting any of the interent defaults DOES NOT help this error. Can a program cause something like that? It is not the security settings or anything like that. Should I reinstall IE? Would that fix it? I can let it sit for hours and nothing happens.
