How do I burn cds with windows xp

buy a cd burner
install it
buy software like adaptec or nero
follow instructions

Right click the file(s) choose "send to" and choose the CD-RW drive letter, the files will be copied to a temp directory and you will see an Icon in the lower right stating that files are waiting to be written to CD. Double click the Icon and you will see a list of files to be copied. On the top left you will see "Write files to CD".

That's it.

If you are looking to just make Audio CD's you can use either Windows Media play 9 or Real One Player, both have CD burnig features. Look for a button called "Copy Music to Device"

The above method is only for creating Data CD's

follow instructions from answer 3. If it doesn't work, make sure to get all the windows update for XP.

As soon as u insert a new Blank cd it will ask for opening "copy these files folder" open this folder and copy all files u want to burn to this folder and do as written in left pan of the folder
