Your Jul 9 article on the disappearing CD-rom was most helpful in restoring my CD-Rom reader. I am at a loss however on the following problem. When I changed the REGISTRATION FILE, I went to the HKEY_LOCAL MACHINE\SYSTEM\CONTROLSET001 area and updated that to Read “Samsung cd-rom drive model (etc)” . However when I reconnect the CD-Burner both drives disappear. I think that this REGEDIT fix only enables the machine to recognize the CD-Reader. How do I update the REGISTRATION file to see both drives at startup and not have one cancel out the other. I am almost 99.9999% convinced that the hardware is intact. The system is so new that it isn’t even paid for yet.
I would appreciate any help you can offer.
