By jcuda ·
I have a Dell desk top that has a cd/rw and dvd/rw drive. Neither will recognize a blank disc to download onto. When I use any program to create a disc it will state insert blank disc. Updated drivers, computer reports both drives a functioning properly. When I insert a copied disc it will play. thanks for your help.

So it's entirely possible that you can read but not burn either a CD or DVD.

If you have only tried this with one brand of blank media it could be that this Media isn't supported by this drive or the media is somehow damaged so you can try another brand of Media and if the problem persists I would tend to think that the DVD RW needs replacing.

Just make sure that any blank media that you buy isn't exposed to direct Sun Light as this will destroy it.
