Start menu has a program that is trying to run and requires the cd in. example of program is Correl Word or Print shop or any of them that must have cd in to run as even some games require it. Find out which program and take it off start up.

You must disable the start up program that is doing it by entering the start up menu and unchecking it. Then it will not be a start up program and will still be in the program files.

Did somebody install the Joke autorun software on your machine?? It’s a small practical joke executable that makes the CDrom drive open by itself.

      negative,I check my hardrive–
This problem started two weeks ago so what like to know is what is causing this problem and it happens when the cdrom can’t read the cd .for example I have 2nd cdrom so when put same cd to the 2nd cdrom it reads fine but the 1st cdrom even can’t show what is inside the cdrom(data/software) and even using the same same cd on both cdroms(for example my style Cam Digital Camera software cd) I have no problem with 2nd cdrom it reads fine but 2nd it can’t read!!!!!!!my operating sytem is XP. if that helps
