CD ROM???

By nhughes79 ·
One of my users is having the following problem:

When he boots the computer, it boots fine but when he goes into My Computer, the CD ROM is missing.

When he reboots using START MENU/SHUTDOWN/RESTART, then the CD ROM Appears...
ANy informationon why this is happening and a possible solution would be gratefully received.
Kind Regards

Neil Hughes

CD ROM???

The CD-ROM is taking so long to spin up that windows is not recognising it. Try setting your CD to master and also change the boot sequence so that the cd drive is before the HDD this will make sure it spins up before windows try's to load it.

Not the best way to do it but install a CD-Rom driver to your system and try it again.

Good luck

P.s.
Win 9X shouldn't need a driver for this but it could work.

This problem could stem from having "Ghost Drivers" listed in the CD-ROM portion of your device manager. Boot into safemode and open the system properties box, go into device manager and click on the plus beside CD-ROM, remove them all and reboot, this might fix the issue.
