CD Rom

By mmills2277 ·
I have installed a new mother board and now the CD Rom is not working. I can see it in my computer and explorer but it will not function. I have rechecked the IDE cables and jumpers and they are correct.

Great, you've elimiated the cables and jumpers. Now let's try the device itself.

My first question is: does it function in another PC?, or if you replace it with another CD-ROM does that one work in this PC?

I've had numerous occassions over the years, where CD units have ceased functioning, as in wouldn't read a CD, but would be 'visible' in My Computer, and Windows Explorer.

Let me know what you discover.

Let there be NO DOUBT, your "new" cd rom drive has bit the dust - get it replaced while you still have the receipt.

Good luck.
