I just install Windows XP Professional on one of my pc. All went well except I do not have acces to cd rom... Its not listed in device manager .. What happened . thanks

Check the HCL to see if your CDROM is listed Then check the manufacturers web site to see if they have drivers for the cd-rom to install under Windows XP Mostly likely it is a compatibility issue You used it to install XP,so check device manager and see if the controller and cd-rom are listed,then try reinstalling the cd-rom drivers
I ran into a same problem. Check see if the CD-Rom is a SCSI, if it is make sure it is the SCSI drivers are updated for XP. The CD drive should pop back up in explorer and device manager after reboot.
