A CD ROM can be shared just like any other folder.

I know that, I am looking for a utility for NT that will keep the CD Rom from slowing down while doing multiple reads.

First of all I would create a global group that contains only the people that need to access the shared CDROM drive. On the machine that the CDROM resides on, I would right click on it and go to sharing. Click on shared as (type in the name you want) and then click on permissions. In permissions, find the global group you created and add to this share. Apply it and you're done. If you want everyone to access the CDROM share, then leave the default everyone group in permissions. I hope that was what you were looking for.

That explains the permissions but, what about the inability of NT to share a CD efficiently?

The only thing you need to remember is whether or not you're sharing from a workstation or a server. You apply the same rules as though it were a folder but remember that you can only have 10 concurrent sessions on a workstation if this is NT.

Hope it helps

No utility exists to speed up the CDROM. The speed of the CDROM is the speed of the the CDROM. Copy the the CDROM to folder on the the hard drive this should speed up access because the it has much faster read times.
