CD-ROM Wont boot

I got a gateway 2000 ive tried 3 cout them 3 cd-rom drives that work on any other computer but on this one it wont reconize it i get into boios and type and cd-rom and when i save and reatart it still wont ecozinze it so i get into bios and the info i eneterned it's not there

have you checked the jumper?
if it is the only drive on a ribbon you can set it to master or cable select. If it is a second drive on the cable you have to set it to cable select or slave.

If its on the same cable as your HDD you may need to change the jumper on that too.

Some HDD have different setting for master(no slave) and master (drive present). Have a look at the labelling on the HDD to see if this is the case with your drive.

If its on a different cable firstly chaeck that cable in one of the other PC's to see if its working okay. If it is it may be that the secondary IDE channel has been disabled in the bios. In the bios look under 'integrated preipherals' or something similar to see if that is the case.
