CD -RW disk

By Maintenance Man ·
I burn certain software that I purchase to save the original from my destructive children. I use Easy CD Creator software. I burnt a rewritable disk and am now trying to run it on another computer and it tells me the drive is not accessible. In other words it will not read the CD. Can someone help me out.

Thank You

Hi
When you run your rewritable disk on another computer, does it prompt you to install udf reader?.
If it does, then you must install it to read the CD. If it does, then it could be that this CDRom is not a multiread CDrom (Pls try on otherlastest CDrom to confirm).

Many older CDROMs cannot read CDRWs (notably those less than 24x). Try burning the software onto a CDR as they are more compatible than CDRWs.

Rather than just burning from one cd to another or from a copy n your hard drive try creating an imageof the cd that you want to burn and then create the cd from the image.

Just to add to the other advice:

CD-RW disks are not archival media.

For any software that you want to save and keep, use a high grade CD-R disk only. I would make 2 copies.

CD-RW disks should be used as large floppies for "temporary" filestorage and transport.

I have had CD-RW disks "loose" their format.

I now make 2 copies of any file stored on a CD-RW disk. And burn a Cd whenever I have enough files to make it practicle.

Also, autorun won't always work from a CD-RW.

Ihave also seen software that won't run unless you make an "exact" copy of the original CD.

It may be when you format it--i use direct cd instead of easy cd creator. format it with direct cd, then use windows explorer to put the info on the cd. when you finish and tell it to eject, checkmark the box "format for most cd rom drives".
