CD-RW : Erased CMOS program

By frij_19 ·

I was cleaning mg LG CD-RW the other day when I suddenly noticed that the rubber protection cover for the writer's CMOS chip was "not on its usual space". Now the only thing the CD does is open and close its trap. I'm definitely sure whatever is stored in that chip has vanished with the light.

Is there a way to reinstall the firmware in anyway?

Curiously curious,

I already bought a DVD Combo, I just want to check if I can use my tinkering abilities with your help to revive the CD-RW.

I don't know if this is possible with a LG Drive

But log onto the makers web Site and look for Firmware Updates for that Drive. I don't think that LG has these but if they do download the newest for your model and apply it from Windows it may cure the problem.

Though Personally I think that you'll find that you have a different problem with the drive but if there is a Firmware update available and you want to try it out there is only a very short time to loose.
