I installed a Sony 540A DVD/CD-RW in a computer running Windows 98 Upgrade. The drive shows up correctly as F drive in “My Computer”. However, when the drive is double clicked a notice comes up “F drive not ready”. But, if is left alone for 10 minutes, the drive content appears in a window and the files can be accessed (slowly). Is this a memory allocation problem? How can it be checked and fixed?
