While it is a possibility that you are receiving the error due to bad media, you may also be having an issue with your system setup. If you have a lot of programs running in the background while you are burning, they can get in the way. Ideally, nothing should be running aside from Explorer and Systray. If you are using Win95, hit CTRL+ALT+DEL to get your close program box. End task on all items but those listed above. You will have to do a separate CTRL+ALT+DEL for each item. In 98 or Me, go to Start>>Run>>MSConfig, choose selective startup and remove the check on load startup group items. That will free up some resources. Another tip is to delete .tmp files on your computer. You can also set the computer to act as a network server. This will often help with CD Creation issues. To do this, open the system properties from Control Panel, From the performance tab, select file system. Set the typical role of the computer to network server. Try those things before deciding that the cd's you bought are bad. Good luck!

These babies can be really finicky. I would suggest the following:

1. Minimize programs running as previously suggested. No screen saver on.
2. Kick the cat out and walk away until the recording is done. Even touching the mouse can toast the recording at times.
3. Set to record at a slower speed. Just because it says it can doesn't mean it can.
4. Try new adaptec or other software or get updated drivers - sometimes OS and non-OS software just don't like each other.
5. Clean heads on R/W drive - could just be dirt.

Hope this works. Charlie

I've had this problem.I put the cdwriter as master on the secondary controller and the cdrom drive I slaved it off the hard drive and no problems since. And do the above, close all back ground programs, and virus program as well.
Good Luck
