cdrom/dvd issue

By NoCamels4u ·
Running winxp have a internal ide cdrw installed and a internal ide dvd drive installed. for some reason the dvd drive only plays dvd-roms and the cdrw only plays cds. neither can read from a cdrom. when cdrom is inserted the dvd drive says disk is corrupted or a format windows cannot read and when its in the cdrw it opens up to a blank window. but in both cases in my computer it shows that a cdrom is in the drive, but it wont read it. tried reinstalling both still no good. all connections appear to be ok. even in safe mode neither read cdrom. also tried using just one drive, uninstalling the other but still no good. what do i do?

Could be corrupted filter entries in the Registry caused by incompatible CDR/RW software.

See and run the Fix.

Try booting up the machine with a cd in the drive. If you can read it now then look for any ufds or ustorage processes that are running and stop them. These processes are for flash storage devices. If this fixes your problem and you are running any flash storage devices then go to driver's pub site for a fix.
