CDRW error

by medicallyinclined . Updated 24 years, 2 months ago

I have an Aptiva Model 2162Q3C. This PC is a split system which means that the Floppy drive and CD-Rom are in a separate console under the Monitor and is joined to the tower through a common cable to the tower on the floor. I have upgraded some items such as a 20.5GB IBM Deskstar 7200rpm HDD which is running as a master on the primary IDE and a CDRW Acer 24x10x40 with Nero v5 software on the secondary IDE which is also a master. I have 64mb of SDRAM and a ZIP 100 drive on my parallel port. WhenI try to do a burn I keep getting an error message “SCSI target error”. I did read on the internet a comment which stated that “Guest.exe” which is part of the ZIP software from Iomega sets up a SCSI type of interface for the ZIP drive and the only way to fix this was to wipe the drive and re-install windows, which I did, but the problem still exists. Any suggestions gladly tested as I am running out of ideas other than deserting my Aptiva and building my own version of how a PC should be.
