cdrw "not enough storage" error

By bradq ·
We have a new pc running Windows NT Workstation 4.0 SP6 on our network. We added an internal HP cd rewriter and installed the Adaptec software. The drive functions fine locally.

However, we shared the drive just like we have done many times on other machines with cdrw's but this one is not accessible for some reason. Any pc on the network (all running Windows 9 that tries to access this share on the network gets this error message, "\\ENCORE\archive is not accessible. Not enough storage available to process this command." There is a Retry or Cancel button but neither do any good.

The share shows up in Network Neighborhood. Is this some weird incompatibilty with Windows 98 machines trying to access the NT Workstation? Shares on the hard drive work fine, its just specific to the share on the cdrw. I have tried cd-r, cd-rw, and even standard musical cd's in the drive and none can be accessed. Can anyone help?

Make sure that your CDRW software is not memory resident, and also try and access the drive from the share using an administrator login, also are you running peer to peer or client/server network?

Thanks for the response but I figured it out. The Parameters in LanmanServer in the registry needed to be increased.

Not sure if this would make a difference or not but does drive has the most recent firmware update? Check HP's site to see if there is an update for this model. I know I resolved a CDRw issue by upgrading the firmaware. It's worth a shot.
