Celeron vs Intel Chips

By Chykke ·
Hello,
Why would i prefer an Intel PC over a celeron PC. I'm trying to decide which way to go and the Celeron PCs are a lot cheaper.
I'm asked to justify my selection of Intel over Celereon & will require some concrete technical justification.
Pls assist.

Celeron vs Intel Chips

Thats a bit of an odd question as Celerons ARE intel CPU's. The difference is basically (without the technical jargon), if you want a basic desktop that is just for word processing, internet, and other simple tasks, and isn't going to perform complex tasks like video/audio editing and encoding or like games which need lots of processing power. If you do want a more powerfull PC for the latter tasks in that list, go for an AMD Athlon not an Intel PIII/P4, as they are more powerfull in most areas, and a lot cheaper.

Hope this helps you out.

1 - Celerons are also Intel. What they're not is Pentiums (III, IV).

2 - Celerons are aimed at a budget conscious consumer audience, with minimal requirements. Pentiums are aimed at usage which need more horespower: heavy number crunching, gaming, video conference, etc.

In a business environment, Celerons might be useful as a desktop for admin types, and functions that work quietly in one or 2 small MS Office-type documents at a time. Otherwise, you'll want the increased zip of the PIII/IV.

the only difference between Celeron and other Intel CPU's is the size of the Cache. The cache in Celeron is twice smaller. If you use your pc for internet, office work the Celeron is good choice. But if you are playing games, computer graphics and other intensive tast it is better to buy Pentium 3 or 4
