Certs or Experience

I am looking to get some certifications, (all I have is an A+), yet I have hands on of 10 years with rubber bands and band-aids.

Do employers look more at your certs or experience , (in addition to your personality being company fit).

All the calls I seem to get are help-desk contracts of 6 months with a third party for Sprint!
