Change Contact Email address-Outlook XP

By pagogrp ·
When I change a contacts e-mail address in Outlook XP, the contact record shows the new address but when a new mail message is addressed, the old address is inserted. A check on the properties of the contact shows that the new address is recorded against the contact. Where else is the address stored ??? Why does Outlook have this memory effect??

Change Contact Email address-Outlook XP

If you are working with multiple address lists, you get the email address from the first match. For example, if you have a contact entry for someone in the Global Address List, if you search the GAL first you will pick up that address. (There is a setting for the search order.)

Try clicking the To: button, selecting your contact folder, then that entry, and see what address you get. If it is the new one, look for matching entries in the other lists.

Good luck.

a. There is only one adddress list shown when I go into addresses at the To line. It is the "Contacts" book under Outlook Address Book

b. When I click on the to button & find the contact, the new address is in the properties.

c. If I type the contact in the address line & select it there, the old address is displayed. There is only one contact listed when I do this.
