Change Multiple User Accounts in 2000

By dlucas ·
In Windows NT 4 you could select a group of users and then modify the properties of those users. For an example I could modify login hours for all my users at once eliminating the time to open each users properties. I am finding that Windows 2000 Active Directory does not have this available or I could be skipping over it. To me that was a great way to make sure that everything was the same for all users. If Microsoft took that out then they are stupid and they need to incorporate it back in. Does anyone know how to do a "Global Change" of properties within a user account??? I have looked at group policy and seem not to find anything if someone has done this then please tell me how you have accomplished it.

It was changed to the MMC Console snap-in
To locate click-Start/Programs/Administrative Tools/Computer Management
To create domain accounts, open the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in by clicking-Start/Programs/Administartive Tools/Active Directory Users and Computers
You will want to use the "Accounts tab" of a domain accounts properties.

Microsoft took that away in windows 2000, but they gave us another good tool to work with, ADSI. I would like to recommend two books that covers most of it and also give you examples of how you can use it.

1, WINDOWS 2000 ADSI SCRIPTING FOR SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION, by Thomas Eck

2, Professional ADSI Programming, by Simon Robinsson

If you have just a little bit experience of Visual Basic you will find this to be a good tool.
