Change of admin pw breaks veritas backup

By shawnc4000 ·
I am currently running Veritas Backup Exec 8.6 on a windows 2000 server. After changing the admin password. Veritas gives errors saying that it can't start the naming system due to login error. When I click on the app to open, it brings up a logon screen asking for admin password and neither old nor the new passwords work. I have had to change the password back to the old one and reboot server (not just log off and back on) to get the backup program working again. Any ideas are appreciated.

Hi Shawn,

Backup Exec uses the administrator account to log on to the services, so if you go to Administrator Tools, Services, and scroll down to the five or six Backup Exec services, double click them each and go to the LogOn tab and change the password it is using there to the new administrator password. Restart those services and then you can go back into BE.

Go to where Eric said and just check the box to Use the local system account if it is logging onto the domain as an admin already.... Won't matter how many times you change the password again, you will never have that error again.
