Change of Career

By hasanmdfarid ·
I am an Electrical Engineer having long 30 years experience in the operation & maintenance of Industrial Automation Equipment like PLC, DCS,Dataloggers etc.
In the year 2000 I decided to change my career to IT profession and accordingly attended several training like Oracle8, Visual Basic4, HTML and Windows NT4 and Networking.
I have also experience in using MS Word,MS Excel and MS Access.
I finally got DBA Certifications and Application Developer Certificatoion from Oracle. Recently I have achieved A+ Certification from COMPTIA on PC Hardware and OS.I am now preparing for Netywork+ and COSCO CCNA.
But I am not having actual practical experience in Oracle and nobody is willing to takr me without experience.
So how I can have some actual practical training in anty company like internee. I am even ready to work at a minimum salary to gain experience.
Is there any body who can help in achieving my goal of becoming an IT professional?

IT pros always help each other

by stress junkie In reply to Change of Career

I'm always gratified when I think about how IT people
always help each other. My own career would have
been much less impressive without other people's help.

I'd say that the best way to break into any IT area is to
go to a temp/contract house. If you convince the
person at the contract house that you can do the job
then some of them will guarantee your performance at
the client job. The way that the do that is to tell the
client that if you don't work out after a week or two
then the client doesn't have to pay the contract house.
You will be paid either way. Naturally you will want to
outperform the client's expectations when you start the
job.

Many of the jobs on the job web sites are posted by
contract houses so you can find them that way.
