Right-click an open area on the desktop, and choose Properties. When the Display Properties window appears, select the effects tab. Click on change icon button and select your new icon.

Hi

You need to right-click the desktop and select Properties. Next click the Desktop tab, then click the Customize Desktop button, then you can change the icon.

Good luck

hey, its unfortunate you havent told us which version of windows you are using. I use windows 2000 and agree with the answer darts32 has given. RClick on a clear area of your desktop, select 'Properties' from the pop up menu, and then choose the 'Effects' tab on the dialog box that opens. You will then see the Desktop icons. Choose the recycle bin icon and select'change icon' button. You can then select from the choices provided. You can also choose browse to select your own icon from another location.

oops me too, but the answers provided are sufficient. Win XP, use the method BC has provided, Win2K, you can try the others. Nice day.
