change username

I had to change a user name in Windows XP Home, SP2, but the folder in Documents & Settings still showed the old username. I changed every reference in the Registry and tried to Hide the folder but no luck. Any suggestions please?

Did you try renaming the folder itself to the new name?

IT can't be done as it is a system file.

I suggest creating a new username and then copy the profile from the old user to the new user's profile to keep the settings via System Control panel.

Does not help removing the wrong username in Windows Explorer.

Hi

I think this is normal behaviour. I renamed an account on my machine and the C:\Documents and Settings\username folder remained unchanged but the 'My Documents' references were renamed to the new name.

As suggested above, create a new user then copy the old profile files to it.

Good luck
