Change Windows 2000 Login Screen

By raharr ·
I have a few computers that we order from DELL. They all have this stupid screen that comes up behind the login screen. Once logged in, they go to the default screen colors. Does anyone know how to change this?

#1 try changing the background to something else and then restart the machine and see what happens.

#2 you can always call Dell and see if they can help you with the issue.

I'd like to get more information from you though. Is is like a splash screen that comes up briefly right at login??

You can check a bunch of sites out there in regard to start up issues and chaning the actual login screen. This site ( http://www.annoyances.org/ ) has quite a few hacks on changing the login screen and you might look and see if they have something in regard to your Dell issue.

Provide me some more information and I'll try and assist more.

Good luck..

If you mean the login welcome screen, go to Control Panel, User Accounts. There click on Choose the way users login and out, and there you can chose to get rid of the welcome screen.

Let me see if I can clear this up a little. This screen pops up right after the boot screen and is displayed while the login screen is up. After login, the screen goes back to the normal background.

It's very simple, do the followings:
- run regedit command
- backup your registry first (Registry>Export registry file)
- go to HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Pannel\Desktop and replace the WallPaper value with (none) (simply write down (none))
That's it!
