Changes in Display of windows in XP

By gwr ·
When I attempt to move an open window, the window shows as an outline only (it used to show me the whole contents as I moved the area displayed). This means that I cannot see the axact window contents until I release the mouse button. It is confusing because I used to be able to ACCURATELY move a window before letting it rest in position.

Sorry, I don't know how to explain the problem more clearly.
Hope you can help.

Open the Registry editor. WARNING Editing the Registry is risky always backup before making changes by right clicking on the KEY and saving it.

It is Type REG_SZ and its Value should = 1

Although nervous of editing the Registry, I did the backup (Export) and effected the change to '1' from '0'.
It now works just as it used to - many thanks.

No need to go mucking around in the registry....

1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click Display.
3. Click the Effects tab.
4. Click to check the Show window contents while dragging check box.
5. Click OK.

Editing the Registry worked as suggested by Jacky Howe

I did not appear to have an 'effects' tab so couldn't try your method out.
I wondered if your suggestion was for Vista rather than Windows 'XP'.
However, I am most grateful for your suggestions/help.
Cheers
