Changing Attachment Default Location

By dj4277 ·
I am new to supporting Outlook, and I am currently experiencing the following issue: All attachments are saving to the temp directory by default. I have attempted training my users to use Save As before they open attachments, but this is not working.

Is there a way to change the default location for attachments in Outlook 97???

Thanks in advance for any and all input.

Look under tools, options. There should be a tab for either general or file locations where you can specify the default save location.

Outlook does have the option to change the default attachment location.

The folder where the attachment is to be saved varies. The default folder is my documents, once the user saves on a different file, that file becomes the default until an attachment is saved on a different folder, then that folder bocomes the default. There must to be a registrty entry that can be modified, but will only work until the user saves it elsewhere.

Good luck!

Thank You, this resolves half of my problem. If users open the document first, it still opens to the temp directory. I believe I can teach the user community this process.

Thanks Again
