Changing Date Last Modified

By steve.doig ·
I have some html files that will be indexed by a search engine. I want to manually change the date last modified to reflect the file's published date, not last modified, which means search results will reflect published dates not modified dates. Is there a way to change date last modified of files in Windows?

You can do it easily with a freeware shell extension that adds that information to the property page for a file.
Go to:

http://space.dolphin.free.fr/Windows/shdate.html

their shdate.zip is easy and free.

Good Luck

Why so complicated? Just reset your system clock to the date you want. Save your file (if needed make a minor change) and reset afterwards the clock. That should work. [A real lawyers trick to prove date last modified]
You may get funny combinations of dates. You will get what you want for last modified.
Good luck
