Changing Passwords on NT4.0

By graemeduncan ·
Is there any way other than from the Change Password option to change the Administrators password on an NT4.0 server?

I receive an error message if I try to use this option.

TIA

You can change the administrator password in User Manager / User Manager for Domains. But if you are not logged in using the administrator account when trying to change the password, then you have to be logged on with another account that has Administrative Priviledges or is in the Administrators Group. If it is not you won't have access to change the password.

Cheers ....

If you dont have admin privelages you will receive and error.

If you have admin privs and are still receiving the error try this from the command prompt window.

c>net user administrator newpassword

if is says command complete successfullythen use newpassword as your new password.
