Changing Security Permissons

By k4k ·
Hi Techies,

I have a lots of shares on Win2k3 server. there are about 200 shares. each user has a share in his/her name & has Full Control on it. Now i have to change the NTFS permission on all these shares. so that users get only read permission.

Changing NTFS permission on each folder is tedious, is there any tool that can asists in doing this task in one go. which changes the permission on all shared folders .

Thx in advance

The CACL tool will allow you to do this, but it will be indeed tedious:

Are the folders all under one parent folder? Could you just set the permissions on the parent folder so a group containing all users has read-only permission, then force the permissions to all child objects in the Advanced folder?

Sorry, fingers getting away from me. Please replace "Advanced folder" with "Advanced options on the Security tab."
