Changing the default home page setting

I recently opened a website using Internet Explorer v.5 and found out later on that it changed my default home page setting. When I tried to change the setting in the “Internet Options”, the address box cannot be altered ( gray text of the website Iopened) and the buttons (use default, use blank..) disabled. How can I change it to its original format/settings?
