    Charger acting a bit strange

    by mtal ·

Some context before anything, I bought a Motorola G9 Power about 2 months ago now, it came with it’s charger and all I needed.
Initially, everything was working out fine as intended, until today. When I plugged in my phone to charge, I noticed it didn’t ring or buzz, the usual indication that it’s now charging. A bit perplexed, I decided to check my phone and saw I had a notification regarding my USB connection, where it refused to let me charge my phone as it thought I was connected to a sort of computer or hard drive. I’ve never seen this problem before with any phone and I didn’t find anything about it either. Luckily I had a spare head and cable on the side so I decided to do some testing and both my spare and original cable and head work, but strangely enough, when I use both the original head and cable of my phone, it’s believes that I’m connected to a hard drive, regardless if the head is connected to anything at all. When I plug it in, it doesn’t charge at all but when plugged in with a mix of spare and original, both parts work just fine. If anyone can help me at least figure out what’s going on, I’d much appreciate it, even more if I can fix it. I’m willing to share more information if needed and go for professional help.

      No professional needed yet.

At 2 months it’s well inside warranty.

Taking it to some non-warranty covered professional will likely end badly.
