CheckSum Error Cannot find OS

By robert.vivarelli ·
When I start my Emachines T2682 I recieve a checksum Error.. 0252 CMOS checksum bad. When I press F1 to continue it says operating system not found.
I have restored the Defaults in the BIOS setup but nothing has changed.
I do have a restore Disk and an OS disc from HP, not Emachines.. Will either of these help?

I have changed the battery, and now it will not power up.. Any hints?

You need to see if the hard drive is detected by your bios setup
If not try auto detect

by robert.vivarelli In reply to Bios?

Id like to think of myself as computer savvy, but apperently im not as much as i think.. After plenty of looking i finally located the battery.. (under the modem) diddnt see it until i dug out a flashlight. I am about to put in the new one and see if it helps the issue, but if not how do i go about seeing if the bios detects the hard drive?
