Checksum error

The System: ALbatron KM18G Pro M/B BIOS date 2/24/2004
512mb DDR (FSB 333)
802GB Western Digital HDD (new)

The Problem: When attempting to install windows onto the new HDD it stopped at the point of; Setup is starting windows.
It would not continue past this point. I have tried different windows disks, same problem. I tried to enter the BIOS to see if there may be something not set correctly. I noticed at first that the date and time was all wrong. I tried to change it .. again to the correct time but it will not adjust further than February 2 2002. Any attempt to clear the CMOS sets the clock to January 1 2040 and trhe time reads as 2 2 2 and cannot be changed. Rebooting results in checksum error. No post beeps either, even after removing the ram completely.

The resolution: ? Any ideas? Possible BIOS virus?
